Volunteering with BU Hillel for Mitzvah Day

Each semester, Hillel plans a Mitzvah Day, a day where university students give back to their community by volunteering with local organizations in the Boston area. The philosophy of the project is to have students donate their time rather than their money. Mitzvah Day for this semester is scheduled for Sunday, March 30th, 2014, and Hillel would love to have you join.

Oxfam CHANGE Leader Program

Global issues. Leadership skills. Campus actions.

Oxfam America, a global organization that works to right the wrongs of poverty, hunger, and injustice is now accepting applications for its student leadership program. The CHANGE Initiative allows rising college sophomores and juniors to develop their leadership skills, explore policy issues, and create social change locally and globally; while exposing them to the international development issues that inform Oxfam’s work. After, the students selected as CHANGE Leaders apply their skills and creativity to promote Oxfam issues on campus. We are looking for dynamic students with ideas, connections, and a dedication to social justice around the world.

Selected students participate in a week-long training in Boston, July 19-25, 2014, which is organized and paid for by Oxfam. Students then work with Oxfam on campus during the 2014-15 academic year and join or form an Oxfam Club to implement an Oxfam campaign on campus.

CHANGE Leaders:

  • Receive leadership and advocacy training focused toward creating social change locally and globally
  • Have access to expert skills based training, resources, materials and year-round support from Oxfam staff
  • Explore policy issues related to the global food system using a rights based approach
  • Establish connections and share knowledge with college students from the US and beyond

Applications are due April 1, 2014. Learn more about the CHANGE Initiative and read the FAQ at: http://www.oxfamamerica.org/change.

Students should apply online at: http://oo.oxfamamerica.org/change/index.php/register/.
